New Artist...in my house

I discovered this artist's paintings a little while ago while I was surfing around etsy.  I kept coming back and just had to buy these two awesome works of art.

Not my best photo, but the light has been sparse here in Ohio lately.  But I must admit they are kinda scary at night, when all you can see is their bright white eyeballs and teeth in the darkness.  eep!  It is such a great painting to see when you first enter the house!

In the background in a lovely print I got from meloearth on etsy a long time ago.  She was a definite inspiration for the dining room.  I am in love with her Frida's.

The other painting is "Cupcake anyone?" and I love her.  She is upstairs in the hallway.

Her polka dots coordinate with the bathroom just perfectly!

I just finished one of the chalkboards I have been working on this last week.  I think I love it!

I love it so much that it has a permanent home on my kitchen wall!  I rarely keep things I make lately, but this one complimented our kitchen perfectly. 

I guess I should have shut the cabinet door since I was taking pictures.  oops. 

I will be making more up to post in my shop...I think everyone needs a little chalkboard in their kitchen for notes and menus and stuff.

I have a couple other chalkboard prototypes in progress.  A little birdie, which is very similar to my birdie clocks and a vase with flowers.

I'm still thinking about what I want to do with them as of yet.  When I am in the "prototype" phase, it sometimes moves verrrry slowly!  Or I can have a big-bang idea pop in my head and there you have it...done.  I much prefer the genius ideas, but don't we all.

The mail holder/clock/chalkboard/key hook organizer I showed you last week is finally done.  I will post it on Etsy later this week, but I first need to find out what its going to take to ship it.  It is quite heavier than my normal things and much larger, too.  It is definitely a great addition to any entrance to your house.

And I have to throw in this picture of my "helper" CadyKat.  I have to put helper in quotes because most days she does everything but help, but she is cute and just wants attention.

And in case you are wondering, that is my Justin Timberlake bobblehead who lives in the basement with my art.  He is not allowed in the other parts of the house.  Poor guy.

And one more completed work is a cute housewarming clock for my friend.  She is having a party this weekend and I couldn't resist making her a very special clock.  It is her first house, so I made a very personalized little house.

I am going to make some for my Etsy shop, also.  I think they would be fabulous housewarming gifts with customizable house numbers and their name hanging on the little sign.  Yippee!

Snowed in - a week ago

I took these pictures of last weeks snow-in/blizzard (but not really blizzard says mr. weatherman, 20 inches is enough snow to classify as a blizzard for me, mister!) and didn't get a chance to post them.  Being snowed in was fun, but it melted away so fast.

Our puppy Myles (8mos, mix of something strange) fell off the back steps and waded through the snow that was almost as tall as him:

 

As the day went on, everybody seemed to get bored.

Self-promotion alert! You can see the pretty fireplace we mosaic-ed in the background on this one. It' s still not 100% done, but it fools most people!

Soon the humans bundled up and took the puppy dog outside to play. 

It was actually kinda fun because our neighbors, who are also friends, were outside shoveling so all of the dogs ( 4 total) got to run around and play in the snow tunnels.  I forgot to take the camera out for that fun...the pets are way more willing to be photographed than the humans.

And, of course, with all that snow I had some time to create!  My studio space is in the basement and we just had drywall and lights (oh, lights, how wonderful!) installed.  After an almost 3 week hiatus I was ready to start on something new.

I made this mail holder a long time ago from a board someone found on the side of the road.  I decided to start painting it up and shaping it up.  This is the clock/mail holder/chalkboard in progress:

I got the Escutcheon plate on etsy a while back and thought it would be a perfect hole for a clock.  And I've had some chalk board paint forever and decided that it was time to make some chalkboards.  How fun!  This piece has definitely progressed since then (I've been SO slow lately) and I have 3 other chalkboards in production.  Exciting.

Ok, this post took me entirely too long to write and add pictures.  I'm gonna have to figure out this blog thing or I am doomed.
